Introducing Our 2019-2023 Strategic Plan

Jan - Fri - 2019
January 11, 2019

The board and staff of Moses Taylor Foundation are excited to begin 2019 by sharing our first strategic plan. Thanks so much to the many partners who participated in our planning process. We hope you see reflections of your insights and recommendations throughout our plan. Our mission, vision and core values remain the same. This plan sharpens our focus and defines the impact we will aim to achieve over the next five years.

Our Plan

Our 2019-2023 plan centers around five core strategies:

  1. Expanding school-based health through broadly supporting school nurses and increasingly the availability of school-based health centers
  2. Reducing social isolation in older adults through public awareness, identification and connections to community resources
  3. Cultivating responsive grants to identify and address community health needs
  4. Championing increased investment in nonprofit capacity building
  5. Strengthening the Foundation's capacity to operationalize its vision

We believe these strategies reflect the best opportunities for Moses Taylor Foundation to improve the health of Northeastern Pennsylvania over the next five years. It balances new initiatives to expand school-based health and reduce older adult isolation with a continued commitment to respond to a variety of pressing community health needs. It also reaffirms our commitment to investing in nonprofit capacity building and challenges the Foundation to expand our own capacity to serve the community.

What's Next

In the coming months we will revise our website to mirror our plan and show how we're operationalizing our strategy. In addition to our quarterly grant cycles and ongoing discretionary grants, we anticipate periodically issuing requests for proposals or inviting proposals to advance our plan. We will also adopt a dashboard to document our progress. We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development which provided core research for the development of our plan and will provide ongoing evaluation assistance to support our learning.

Want to Learn More?

We will hold a webinar, Tuesday, January 22 at 11AM to review our plan in greater detail and answer any questions. Click here to register. We also welcome the opportunity to meet one-on-one. Questions regarding school-based health and older adult isolation can be directed to Christine Marcos at cmarcos@mosestaylorfoundation.org. Questions regarding responsive grants and capacity building can be directed to Jeff Smith at jsmith@mosestaylorfoundation.org.

With our plan complete, now the real work begins. We look forward to staying in dialogue on what we're learning, what's going well and how we're reshaping our strategies based on the data and feedback we receive.

Thanks again to all our partners who participated in our strategic planning process. Thanks in advance for your collaboration moving forward.
